Leaving San Jose we are on our way to the Monteverde cloud forest.
Some of the views were spectacular
We had hoped to visit the volcano of Poas, but the weather was so bad we had to abandon the visit.
This area is cultivated to every square inch - huge canopies protected the coffee trees and lily plants.
All set up for picking and quick export to Europe.
We passed several towns with huge churches
This area is also famous for its painted wagons. We came across this guy and his wagon.
very beautiful it was too.
One of the villages specializes in the painting of the carts, there was a big tourist shop that we visited.
You could buy all sorts of carts, from minatures to great wheels for tables.
The workshop was not working but the artists tools were all there.
During our lunch stop we sat in the park and watched a troup of guides and scouts playing a game.
Pressing onwards we stopped at San Ramon for the night. A bustling town with a very large church and interesting pavement.
We often came across orchids growing in gardens.
Our hotel was right out of the past! Ghastly coloured walls and huge bed with heavy bedstead .
And bathroom to match!
It reminded us of the hotels in Spain in the 1970's!
I am very amazed by the information of this blog and i am glad i had a look over the blog.
