Chihuahua

We left Creel early in the morning to catch the bus to Chihuahua, to stay the night and then bus it down south to Zacatecas, over 1,000kms away. Chihuahua is a mining town - Silver. This was the start of the Silver trail for us. All the cities and town on our route south were the towns that developed round the silver mines. All started by the Spaniards in the 16th Century.
The only thing of interest in the city is the huge Gothic Style Cathedral.

Inside the local population was well informed on the Churches views of several subjects!
And Jesus had a very modern crown of thorns!
Outside people were feeding the pidgeons.
Shoe cleaning is still a local industry, but this one was very well set up!

We are always fascinated by the 'cowboy kit', and this city excelled itself in really 'kitch' kit!
The founder of this emporium still had his photo in the window!
Boots here really turn up at the ends! We had a bus driver who drove in this kind of boots!

how about these, Armadillo boots!
And these, with the diamante round the soles!
We really fancied the buckles though.
We did wonder how the ladies wriggled into these!

Then round the corner were a few shops that we just don't see any more in Europe.
Christening robes for girls.
and suits for boys.
Then comes the Confirmation gear.
We left early the next morning for an 8 hour bus journey to Torreon.
