Mexico City

It was a 2 and a half hour flight to Mexico City - Having caught the flight at 6.30am we felt a little jaded! We checked into our hotel neaar the Zocalo - the main plaza in Mexico City. We were a ñittle worried about the demonstrations going on and the noise at 8.00am in the morning! But, didn't  think too much about it. We had one night before catching another flight at 7.30am! We were also retutning for two nights before flying back to Europe, so we decided not to rush around too much! We did wander into the Zocalo and into the the massive Cathedral.
It was rather plain inside, but outside were all the tents with people
demonstrating about everything under the sun.
We wondered what all these shoes were about.
Obviously someone was fed up the Mexican  President Calderon!
The richest man in the world, Carlos Slim  has just opened a new museum to display his personal collection of  sculptures, paintings and ceramics. The building itself was pretty impressive.
Inside it was huge, it reminded us of the Mercedes Museum in Stutgart
On the top floor was the most incredible collectiooon of sculptures, from Degas, Dahli and Moore.

We wondered why they had polished the bronzes?
Leaving the incredible building behind we returned to the hotel.
Where we spent the most uncomfortable night of the whole trip. Despite moving ino into an inside room the noise continued all night, once the noise in the Zocolo stopped a night club started up!! Awful, we rethought where we were going to stay on our return!
